🌿 Succulent Care Guide

Succulents are all about variety, texture and those wonderfully chunky little leaves that make you want to line them all up and admire them. The key is finding a bright spot and being careful not to overwater.

These plants are naturally geared towards storing moisture in their leaves, so they much prefer a little neglect to constantly damp compost.

☀️ Light

• Give your Succulent plenty of natural light throughout the day.
• A bright windowsill is ideal, with some gentle morning or late-afternoon sunshine being particularly welcome.
• They can handle direct sunlight, but introduce stronger sun gradually to avoid leaf scorch.
• If growth becomes stretched or the plants start leaning noticeably towards the window, they may be asking for more light.

💧 Water

• Allow the soil to dry out thoroughly between waterings.
• When it is time to water, give them a good drink and allow excess water to drain away completely.
• Never leave the pot sitting in water, as persistently wet soil can quickly cause root problems.
• During the cooler, darker months, watering will usually need to be reduced considerably.
• When in doubt, check the soil first rather than watering on a fixed schedule.

🌫️ Humidity

• Average household humidity is generally absolutely fine.
• There is no need to mist your succulents; their leaves are designed to hold onto moisture themselves.
• Good airflow around the plants is helpful, particularly if several plants are growing closely together.
• Keep them away from constantly damp or poorly ventilated spots.

🍽️ Feeding

• Feed during the growing season, roughly from spring through to early autumn.
• Use a diluted fertiliser formulated for succulents or cacti.
• Feed sparingly rather than heavily — these plants don’t need a rich feeding regime.
• Reduce or stop feeding during the darker winter months when growth naturally slows.

🌱 Quick Tips

• Choose a pot with good drainage.
• A free-draining cactus or succulent compost is ideal.
• Rotate the pot occasionally so the plants grow evenly towards the light.
• Remove any dead leaves from around the base to keep them tidy.
• Different varieties may grow at slightly different rates.
• Keep an eye on the leaves — soft, yellowing or translucent foliage can be a sign that the plant is staying too wet.

This is one of those plants where a little restraint goes a very long way. You might walk past thinking, “You look a bit thirsty…” — check the soil first. Your succulent will probably appreciate you leaving the watering can exactly where it is.🌿✨
