🌿 Sansevieria Trifasciata Care Guide

There's something wonderfully architectural about a Sansevieria Trifasciata. Those tall, upright leaves, patterned with bands of deep green and silvery grey, give this plant a really striking presence. It's a plant that knows exactly what it's doing and doesn't need much fuss along the way.

Sansevierias are brilliant at storing water in their thick, fleshy leaves, which makes them particularly forgiving if watering occasionally slips your mind. In fact, they're much happier being left to dry out than sitting in damp soil.

As they mature, they can produce fresh shoots from beneath the soil, gradually forming a lovely, full clump of foliage.

🌤️ Light

• Bright, indirect light encourages steady growth and strong leaf markings.

• Tolerates lower light conditions.

• Avoid prolonged harsh midday sunshine, particularly without gradual acclimatisation.

💧 Water

• Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

• The thick leaves store plenty of moisture.

• Reduce watering significantly during winter.

• Avoid leaving the roots sitting in wet soil.

💦 Humidity

• Average household humidity is absolutely fine.

• No additional misting or humidifier required.

🌱 Feeding

• Feed approximately once a month during spring and summer.

• Use a diluted, balanced houseplant fertiliser.

• Reduce or stop feeding during winter when growth slows.

💚 Big Plant Lad Tip: A free-draining mix is your best friend with this one. Add plenty of perlite or pumice to help prevent moisture collecting around the roots, and always use a pot with drainage holes.
