šæ Anthurium luxurians Care Guide
Luxurians is all about incredible texture ā thick, deeply quilted foliage with a glossy finish that looks almost sculpted by hand. One of the most distinctive collector Anthuriums, it's slow-growing but rewards patience with dramatic, prehistoric-looking leaves that only improve with age. šæāØ
āļø Light
- Thrives in bright, indirect light
- Medium light is tolerated, but growth slows noticeably
- Avoid direct sun ā leaves can scorch or lose their glossy finish
- Bright filtered light encourages larger, more textured foliage
š§ Water
- Keep lightly moist, but never soggy
- Allow the top layer of the substrate to dry slightly between waterings
- Use a chunky, airy Anthurium mix (bark, perlite, coco coir and sphagnum moss)
- Excellent drainage is essential to prevent root rot
š«ļø Humidity
- Prefers high humidity (70ā85%)
- Higher humidity promotes larger leaves and clean unfurling
- Good airflow is just as important as humidity
- Warm, stable conditions encourage consistent growth
š½ļø Feeding
- Feed every 4ā6 weeks during active growth
- Use a balanced diluted liquid fertiliser
- Reduce feeding during cooler months when growth slows
š± Quick Tips
- Growth is naturally slow, but each new leaf becomes larger and more textured
- Avoid handling new leaves while they're unfurling
- Filtered or rainwater can help reduce mineral build-up
- Repot only when necessary, as Anthuriums prefer being slightly root-bound
š” Big Plant Lad Wisdom
Luxurians looks like it belongs in the age of dinosaurs. Every deeply quilted leaf is a reminder that sometimes the weirdest plants are also the most beautiful. šæāØ
